Interleukin 3 (IL-3) is a pleiotrophic cytokine that is produced by mast cells and activated T cells. It induces the differentiation of pluripotent hematopoetic stem cells into various myeloid precursor cells, and has been previously studied under many different names due to its multiple functions.
