| Description | Myostatin (GDF-8) is expressed uniquely in human skeletal muscle as a 12kD mature glycoprotein consisting of 113 amino acid residues and secreted into plasma. Myostatin is a member of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily of secreted growth and differentiation factors that is essential for proper regulation of skeletal muscle mass. Studies have shown that myostatin could play an important role in cardiac development and physiology. Human Myostatin-HisTag, produced in E. coli, is 16kD protein containing 113 amino acid residues of the Human Myostatin and 37 additional amino acid residues. Human Myostatin is recombinant protein with N-terminal fusion of HisTag with added 31 amino acid sequence as a spacer: Met-Arg-Gly-Ser-His-His-His-His-His-His-Gly-Met-Ala-Ser-Met-Thr-Gly-Gly-Gln-Gln-Met-Gly-Arg-Asp-Leu-Tyr-Asp-Asp-Asp-Asp-Lys-Asp-Pro-Ser-Ser-Arg-Ser-MYO).
