| Description | Rabbit polyclonal to Resistin (a.a. 79-90). Recognizes human resistin 14kDa. It has been suggested that the hormone resistin secreted by adipocytes,links obesity to type 2 diabetes by modulating steps in the insulin signaling pathway and inducing insulinresistance. Levels of circulating resistin decrease following treatment with the anti diabetic drugrosiglitazone and increase in diet induced and genetic forms of obesity. In addition, treatment of normalmice with recombinant resistin impairs glucose tolerance and insulin action. Insulin stimulated glucostuptake by adipocytes is enhanced by neutralization of resistin and is reduced by resistin treatment. |
