| Description | Purity ~98% (SDS-PAGE). Galectin-1 belongs to growing family of evolutionary conserved animal lectins. Galectins consists of beta-galactoside binding lectins that contain homologous carbohydrate recognition domains (CRDs). Galectin-1 has the ability to induce apoptosis of activated T-cells and T-leukemia cell lines. Other activities include cell differentiation and inhibition activity of CD45 protein phosphatase activity. Galectin also binds beta-galactoside as well as CD45, CD3 and CD4. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to 134aa residues from human Galectin-1, expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~14.5kD Biological Activity: Determined by its ability to chemoattract human blood monocytes.
