| Description | The CC chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5) is a member of the CC chemokine receptor family. It has the characteristic structure of a 7 transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). CCR5 is a receptor for a number of inflammatory CC chemokines including MIP-1-alpha, MIP-1-beta and RANTES. It transduces a signal by increasing the intracellular calcium ion level and may play a role in the control of granulocytic lineage proliferation or differentiation. It also acts as a coreceptor (CD4 being the primary receptor) for HIV-1 R5 isolates. CCR5 is highly expressed in spleen, thymus, and also in the myeloid cell line THP-1, the promyeloblastic cell line KG-1A and on the CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells. Moreover, recent studies have highlighted the role of CCR5 in a variety of human diseases, ranging from infectious and inflammatory diseases to cancer.Rabbit Anti-CCR5 Polyclonal Antibody is developed in rabbit using a KLH-coupled synthetic peptide derived from extracellular domain of human CCR5. |
