Our carotid bifurcation planar models accurately mimic complex physiological vasculature geometries and are compatible with MRI, radiographic imaging & particle imaging velocimetry (PIV) with an RI of 1.41.  Available geometries: normal bifurcation, 30%, 50%, 60% & 70% symmetrical or asymmetrical stenosis.  Thin walled versions with the same geometries are available.  The thin walled versions can be embedded in tissue mimicking materials (i.e. agar for Doppler flow).  See our Carotid bifurcation Doppler Flow Phantoms.

The Model: BMF-US, Blood Mimicking Fluid can be used in any flow phantom and with all types of pump systems.  This stable and reliable fluid simulates both the acoustic and physical characteristics of human blood.  It is ideal for Doppler studies and system evaluations.  The fluid is fully degassed prior to packaging to minimize noise from air bubbles.  The back-scatterers are neutrally buoyant.

The carotid bifurcation vasculatures are manufactured using the latest CAD/CAM and NC machining techniques, thereby offering a known geometry to within 0.005cm. The resulting thin walled silicon vascular model(1.0 mm thick vessel wall) is embedded in an agar based tissue-mimicking material.
